How to downgrade PSP 3.03 to 1.5

When downgrading PSP 3.03 to PSP 1.5, you will need the following items: your PSP 3.05, battery that is at least 70% full or a charger, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, the unpatched version which contains the 2.0 update version. You will also need the 3.03 Downgrade files – Mirror and the 1.50 Update, the 3.03 update files are optional. This downgrade does not require any specific motherboard for the PSPs.

Check your firmware’s version. Make sure that it is 3.03; update it if necessary. You can check the version of your PSP by checking the system information that includes the MAC Address, System Software and Nickname.

In order to update your firmware version you should download 3.03 firmware from the website. Transfer this file by connecting your PSP, with the use of the USB cable, to the computer. This is an automatic download but make sure to put it in its proper folders. Go to PSP>GAME, then make another folder named UPDATE. Put the 3.03 EBOOT here, together with other files. Remove the USB and run UPDATE to get the 3.03 version.

1) Download these files (http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php...tartdown&id=12 and
http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Firmware-1.50-F.../163/catid/163) and save them on the desktop. Extract these after. Ensure that you change the name of 1.5 EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP

2) Add the 1.5 EBOOT/UPDATE.PBP file to extracted files. It should be added in this folder: MS-ROOT>PSP>GAME>UPDATE. Remember that you will not over right the folder.

3) Transfer the data correctly from the Downgrader file to the memory stick of the PSP. Ensure that the correct folder goes with the right name.

Load the GTA:LCS copy. The PSP will then turn blank and then light blue and will restart itself. This action means that the download is successful. You can check the version of your present firmware by repeating the process in step 1 but this time, it will show that the firmware is already 3.03 HEN. You can now continue with the next step. But if this incidence did not occur, you might have missed some steps. Restart the tutorial until you get the desired result.

4) Run x.yz update. The screen should be in black with writings on it. This process will take up to 10 minutes. Make sure that your batteries are fully charged to avoid losing power. Any mistake on this step might cause bricking on your PSP.

After the process is completed, the PSP will require you to press X and the PSP will restart. If the PSP did not restart, press O again. Blue screen will again appear with notes that the setting was already corrupted. Press either X or O to confirm. It will again restart and after that, you can now have the PSP 1.5 version.

The procedure is very simple but do not do this if you are in doubt. You can always ask an expert to do it for you. This will not only help you succeed but you will also avoid the risk of bricking your PSP.
